Hardwood vs. LVP for Indiana Homes

No contest: LVP is 100% waterproof and hardwood is not. For kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, laundry rooms, and basements, LVP is the safer choice. Hardwood belongs above grade in rooms where a spill is wiped up, not standing.

LVP resists scratches under dog claws and dropped toys, and its wear layer takes daily abuse well. Hardwood can dent and scratch - but it has one trick LVP does not: a solid hardwood floor can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its life, so it can be renewed instead of replaced.
